We recently spoke with Stephanie at the Women's Safety and Resource Center and she wrote a few words to share with all of us today. The work they do can be very emotionally draining, but for the women and children that they help we know there are never enough words to express the gratitude these people feel that the staff at the Center was there for them when they felt alone and afraid. You guys do awesome work and we at Angel Foot Handmade cant wait to partner with you and bring some love, one stitch at a time, to the folks you help. And now here are a few words from Stephanie at the Women's Safety and Resource Center...
Here at Women’s Safety and Resource Center we help with Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault clients. We can help them get a Restraining Order, give them a safe place to stay, or just lend an ear to listen. A lot of the time when a client has come to us we are their last resort, we never really get a success story from the work we do. We unfortunately represent a time in their life that they don’t want to remember. When a client comes to us the first thing we do is see what their needs are; are they looking for housing apps, do they need to get some clothing from our closet, do they need a hygiene bag, would they like to talk with our court advocate, do they have a safe place to stay? We also have a 24 hr. crisis line that an advocate can be reached at after hours. We respond to Police Departments and Hospitals for Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault related incidents. We strive to empower and to help get back the power and control that has been taken from the victim. We are solely funded by grants and donations. We accept all forms of donations, anything from household items to clothing.
